Bounce Back: Market Shows Strength with Recovery, Highlighting Strong Performances in Banks and Metals.

Bounce Back: The Sensex and Nifty experienced a 1.5 percent decrease each for the week.

The benchmark indices broke a four-day losing streak on April 19, with gains in banking and metal names. The Sensex and Nifty rose by 0.83 percent and 151.20 percent respectively. The market initially traded lower due to Israel’s missile strike on Iran.

Top Nifty gainers include Bajaj Finance, M&M, HDFC Bank, Maruti Suzuki, and JSW Steel, while losers include Bajaj Auto, HCL Technologies, Divis Labs, TCS, and Nestle India.

The Sensex and Nifty50 fell 1.5 percent each for the week, with top gainers being Bajaj Finance, M&M, HDFC Bank, Maruti Suzuki, and JSW Steel. Sectoral indices saw a 1% increase, while healthcare, IT, power, and realty fell.

Sectors and stocks

Sectoral indices showed a 1% increase in bank and metal indices, while FMCG index saw a 0.5 percent increase. Healthcare, IT, power, and realty fell.

RBL Bank, Escorts, and HDFC Bank experienced long build-ups, while Tata Communications, Lupin, and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company experienced short build-ups. Over 150 stocks reached 52-week highs on BSE.

April 21 Forecast

A piercing line pattern on the daily chart suggests a bullish reversal, with the indicator surpassing the 55EMA. Bulls may drive recovery towards 22,300, with a breakthrough potentially triggering a rally.

Markets remained choppy but gained over half a percent due to weak global cues. Gradual recovery in heavyweights across sectors pared losses, pushing the index in the green. Financials, metal, and banking performed well, while realty and pharma closed lower. Midcap lost nearly half a percent. A decisive close above 22,300 could pave the way for further recovery.

The Nifty has experienced a decline, closing the day around 160 points lower. The daily charts show no follow-through buying interest after a breakout, and selling pressure at higher levels could lead to a slipping back into the consolidation zone. The Bollinger bands are contracting, indicating a range contraction. The Bank Nifty has not maintained positive momentum, and it could slip towards the 46900-46800 range. The overall trend is bullish, with an intermediate corrective phase in progress. Short-term weakness could lead to a decline towards the 22200-22250 range.
