Sensex and Nifty 50 both ended higher as Nifty Realty and Nifty IT were the major gainers in the sectoral indices, rising by 2% and 1%, respectively.
Sensex and Nifty retreated from their record high on June 13, but managed to close in positive territory, reaching an intraday high of 23,481 and a record 77,145.
Sectors and stocks
The BSE Midcap and Smallcap saw significant gains, while the India VIX index declined by over 7%. Top gainers on Nifty 50 were Shriram Finance, HDFC Life, Divis Labs, and M&M, while sectoral indices saw Nifty Realty and Nifty IT rise.
