New Records:- All sectoral indices, except pharma, ended in the green, with media, PSU Bank, FMCG, metal, oil & gas stocks increasing by 1-2 percent.

Indian equity indices ended higher on April 10, with the Nifty hitting a record high. The Sensex and Nifty rose by 0.47 percent and 0.49 percent respectively. The market will remain closed on April 11 due to Ramzan Id.

The Nifty saw gains in Coal India, BPCL, Kotak Mahindra Bank, ITC, and Hindalco Industries, while losses included Cipla, Maruti Suzuki, HDFC Life, Divis Labs, and SBI Life Insurance.

Sectors and stocks

The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices saw a 0.5% increase, with individual stocks like Atul, Navin Fluorine International, and United Spirits experiencing a volume spike of over 300%.

Vedanta, Navin Fluorine International, and United Spirits experienced a long build-up, while Info Edge, Tata Communications, and Cipla experienced a short build-up. The biggest gainer was coal India, which saw a 3.75% increase.

Over 150 BSE stocks reached their 52-week high, including Aarti Industries, ICICI Bank, NTPC, M&M, Aegis Logistics, Castrol India, HEG, Honeywell Automation, Inox Green, Interglobe Aviation, KSB Pumps, Laurus Labs, Lloyds Metals, PB Fintech.

April 12 Forecast

The Nifty remained sideways today, waiting ahead of US CPI inflation data, which could impact Fed rate cuts. Resistance is at 22,700-22,750, with support at 22,600. A move above 22,750 could trigger a rally towards 23,000. Buying on dips and selling on rallies is a good strategy.

Indian bourses opened strong at 22,700, with a sharp increase in Banking and FMCG counters pushing the Index higher to a record closing of 22,753.80. Metal stocks contributed the most to the rally, while Pharma and Auto were losers. Mid and Small Caps outperformed the Nifty50, with gains of 0.97% and 0.73% respectively. The Nifty50’s chart set-up suggests an extension of the current up move to 23,000.
