Sensex, Nifty Close Higher Amid Volatility; Metal and Realty Sectors Lead.

Sensex and Nifty 50 both ended higher as Top Nifty gainers include Grasim Industries, Hindalco Industries, JSW Steel, Adani Ports, and BPCL, while losers include Hero MotoCorp, Sun Pharma, M&M, NTPC, and Wipro.

The Indian equity market closed positively on June 20, with the Nifty above 23,550, boosted by metal, oil & gas, and realty stocks. Top Nifty gainers included Grasim Industries, Hindalco Industries, JSW Steel, Adani Ports, and BPCL.

Sectors and stocks

Auto, pharma, and PSU Banks stocks experienced selling, while metal, capital goods, realty, and oil & gas sectors saw buying. BSE midcap index rose 0.5% and smallcap index added 1%.

The Indian rupee closed at a record low of 83.64 per dollar, while over 200 stocks reached their 52-week high on the BSE.

June 21 Forecast

The Nifty50 Index ended the week at 23,567, with 51 points gained, with Metal, Realty, Auto, Pharma, Chemical, Fertilizer, Mid, and Smallcaps outperforming.

The Nifty experienced minor weakness on Wednesday but shifted into an upside bounce with range bound action on Thursday, closing the day higher by 51 points. A small negative candle was formed, indicating a doji type candle pattern. The near-term uptrend with range bound action continued, with potential for minor intraday weakness near 23750-23800 levels.
