Sensex, Nifty Ends Flat, Unable to Sustain Record Highs; IT Stocks Excel.

Sensex and Nifty50 index both flat as top Nifty gainers included L&T, Wipro, Infosys, HDFC Bank, and TCS, while losers included Shriram Finance, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tata Motors, and IndusInd Bank.

On July 2, the market traded rangebound, with the Nifty crossing 24,200 for the first time. Sensex and Nifty50 reached record highs at 79,855.87 and 24,236.35, respectively.

Sectors and stocks

The Nifty Midcap 100 index reached a fresh high of 56,504.5 but ended 0.8 percent lower at 55,854.7, despite a gyration between gains and losses in the first half.

Top Nifty gainers include L&T, Wipro, Infosys, HDFC Bank, and TCS, while losers include Shriram Finance, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tata Motors, and IndusInd Bank.

Sectoral trends showed capital goods, IT, realty, oil & gas rising 0.3-1 percent, while bank, auto, FMCG, power fell 0.3-0.9 percent.

The Nifty50 began the session at 24,230, but a decline in the Mid and Smallcap segments led to a loss of 18.10 points, ending the day at 24,123.85. IT and media sectors were the top gainers, while PSU Banks and FMCG were major laggards.

The Nifty experienced a choppy movement at new highs on Tuesday, closing the day lower by 18 points. The market showed no follow-through upmove since opening at 24236 levels. A small negative candle formed at new highs, indicating tiredness. The overall trend remains positive, with potential buying opportunities after further consolidation. Immediate support is at 23980, with the next upside resistance at 24400.
