Sensex, Nifty fail to hold record highs; realty, metal, FMCG stocks gain.

Sensex and Nifty50 flat On July 15, as Nifty gainers include Coal India, BPCL, HUL, Tata Consumer Products, and Bharti Airtel, while losers include Shriram Finance, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Kotak Mahindra Bank, UltraTech Cement, and Reliance Industries.

The Indian market extended its winning streak for the third consecutive session on July 16, with benchmarks hitting record highs in IT, realty, and FMCG stocks, with the market remaining closed on July 17.

Sectors and stocks

Indian equity indices saw gains in the first half, but selling pressure in the second half erased most gains, with top Nifty gainers Coal India, BPCL, HUL, Tata Consumer Products, and Bharti Airtel.

The Realty index increased by 1.6%, while FMCG, IT, Metal, and Telecom indices saw growth. Media index shed 1%, Power, and Capital Goods indices fell 0.5 percent. 270 stocks reached 52-week highs on BSE.

Outlook 16 July

The Index fluctuated between 24,600-24,650, eventually reaching 24,613.00 with 26.30 points gains.

Sectoral gains were Realty, FMCG, IT, and Media, with Pharma segment experiencing profit booking.

DOJI candles indicate rejection at higher levels. Support level is 24,500.

The Nifty opened positively and consolidated, closing marginally up about 20 points.

The hourly charts show signs of loss of momentum, suggesting consolidation over the next few trading sessions.

Bank Nifty consolidated and closed around the 20-day moving average support, with crucial support at 52100-51900.
