Weekly Earnings

McDonald’s (MCD) reports on Monday, Oct. 30.

Q2 earnings from McDonald’s (MCD), the second largest restaurant chain by location, will be released before market opening on Monday. The fast-food chain’s shares have dropped nearly 12% in six months, earning a Buy recommendation from Wall Street analysts. Seeking Alpha’s Quant grading system rates the MCD Hold owing to valuation concerns, suggesting caution.
“McDonald’s resilient business model and track record of innovation make it a wise investment choice, despite potential risks,” says SA contributor Christos Nikolaou.
EPS consensus: $2.99

Revenue consensus: $6.55B

Earnings Insight: McDonald’s has surpassed EPS and sales projections 7 and 6 times in 8 quarters.

Apple (AAPL) : Report on Thursday, 02 Nov.

Apple (AAPL) will issue its Q4 earnings report after the market closes on Thursday. Apple’s market cap has dropped almost 10% since June 30, 2023, when it reached $3 trillion. Seeking Alpha’s Quant Rating methodology rates the stock Hold due to valuation and growth concerns. The stock has a consensus Buy rating from Wall Street analysts.
China, Apple’s second-largest market behind the U.S., is seeing decreased demand due to geopolitical tensions. This could affect the company’s quarterly results.
Due to Huawei competition, Apple’s earnings announcement may show dismal Christmas quarter sales, especially in China, according to SA contributor Bill Maurer. Tablet sales may drop without a fall iPad launch. The valuation is excessively high because analysts decreased December 2023 revenue expectations.

EPS consensus: $1.39
Revenue consensus: $89.35B
Insight: Apple has topped EPS projections in 7 of the past 8 quarters but missed revenue expectations in 50%.

Pfizer (PFE): Reports, Tuesday, Oct. 31

Analysts estimate Pfizer (PFE) EPS and revenue to fall Y/Y in a report before the opening bell on Tuesday. After Novartis’ better-than-expected results, the results will follow.
Sell-side experts predict a Buy for the stock. The Seeking Alpha Quant Rating system is more conservative, rating the stock a Hold.
According to SA blogger Dair Sansyzbayev, Pfizer’s stock has lagged the market due to decreased revenue and profitability Y/Y. He says last year was an aberration and that the company’s profitability indicators have remained solid.
Pfizer and BioNTech announced a Phase 3 trial for their mRNA-based influenza-COVID-19 vaccine.
The consensus EPS estimate: -$0.34

Revenue consensus: $13.43B

In the past eight quarters, Pfizer has surpassed EPS predictions 5 times and sales forecasts 3 times.

CVS Health (CVS): Reports on Wednesday, Nov. 01

CVS Health (CVS) will announce Q3 results before the bell on Wednesday. CVS shares have dropped 27% despite outperforming quarterly reports. Seeking Alpha’s Quant Rating system rates it Hold, but sell-side analysts rate it Buy.
“Valuation suggests the company’s intrinsic value lies much higher,” writes SA columnist David Krejca.
Tom Cowhey, SVP of Corporate Finance, was named temporary CFO when Shawn Guertin, EVP, CFO, and President of Health Services, took a leave due to family health issues.
Consensus EPS: $2.13

Revenue consensus: $88.17B

In the past eight quarters, CVS Health has surpassed EPS and sales projections.

Dominion Energy (D) : Reports on Friday, Nov. 03

Dominion Energy (D) will report Q3 earnings before the market opens Friday. The business expected Q/Q adjusted EPS increase of $0.72-$0.87 after strong Q2 performance.
Seeking Alpha’s Quant Rating algorithm downgraded the stock to Sell from Hold a few days earlier due to falling growth and negative EPS revisions compared to other utilities equities. Meanwhile, sell-side analysts urge Hold.
“The technical analysis indicates that Dominion Energy’s stock price is near a solid long-term support threshold, hinting at possible signs of a market rebound,” says Muhammad Umair of SA.
Consensus EPS: $0.77
Revenue consensus: $4.43B
Insight: The company has topped EPS predictions in 7 of the past 8 quarters but missed revenue expectations in 5.
