Global Market Update

  • SGX With a rise of 35 points on Friday, the SGX Nifty suggests a somewhat better opening for the larger market. Futures on the SGX were at 18,755.
  • US The regular session on Thursday, stocks continued their current uptrend, and the S&P 500 posted its highest closing level of the year. The overall index increased by 0.62 percent to 4,293.93; it is now just below the crucial 4,300 mark. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, meanwhile, increased by 168.59 points, or 0.5 percent, marking its third straight positive day. Nasdaq Composite prices increased by 1.02 percent.
  • EU  On Thursday, European equities remained flat, echoing the unsure mood around the world. The Stoxx 600 index for all of Europe temporarily closed flat, with sectors moving in both positive and negative directions. Gains were led by a 1.2 percent increase in auto equities, while losses were led by a 1.1 percent decline in telecoms companies. At 7599 points, the FTSE index ended the day 0.32 percent lower. At 15,989 points, the DAX closed 0.18 percent higher.
  • CHINA Investors in Asia will be keeping an eye on China’s consumer price index for May after learning that the nation’s inflation rate dropped to only 0.1 percent in April, the lowest level since November 2020. In contrast, a Reuters survey predicts that producer prices would drop by 4.3 percent in May, which would be the lowest level since mid-2016.
  • In Japan, the Topix rose 0.78 percent and the Nikkei 225 jumped 1.16 percent, erasing some of its losses from the previous two days. The S&P/ASX 200 in Australia increased by 0.28 percent, while the Kospi in South Korea grew by 0.39 percent and the Kosdaq increased by 0.76 percent. Futures for the Hong Kong Hang Seng index were trading at 19,379, indicating a higher open than the HSI’s most recent close of 19,299.18.

STOCK IN NEWS

  • Snowman Logistics: At an average price of Rs 43.32 per share, Gateway Distriparks purchased an additional 14 lakh shares in the logistics firm through open market transactions. Gateway Distriparks also purchased an additional 11 lakh shares, or 0.65 percent of Snowman Logistics, in the previous session.
  • United Drilling Tools; Ashish Kacholia, a renowned investor, sold 1.58 lakh equity shares in United Drilling Tools, or 0.78 percent of the company, in open market transactions for an average price of Rs 190.49 per share. As of March 2023, Kacholia owned 5.7 lakh shares, or 2.81 percent, of the corporation.
  • JHS Svendgaard Laboratories: Nikhil Vora and his wife Chaitali sold a 1.19 percent stake in the maker of oral care products through open market transactions at JHS Svendgaard Laboratories. While Chaitali N Vora sold 3.83 lakh shares for an average price of Rs 18.2, Nikhil sold 3.91 lakh shares for an average price of Rs 19.21.
  • Kotak Mahindra Bank: According to sources cited by CNBC-TV18, Canada Pension Fund is expected to sell its 1.66% share in Kotak Mahindra Bank. The estimated deal value is $754 million. As of March, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board owned 8.63 crore shares, or 4.34% of the bank.
  • Biocon: The Competent Authority of Germany has granted a certificate of GMP (good manufacturing practice) compliance to the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) production facility in Bangaluru. An EU GMP inspection of the aforementioned Bangaluru factory took place in February.
  • Tata Power: Tata Power Renewable Energy obtained a Letter of Award (LoA) to set up 966 MW RTC (round-the-clock) hybrid renewable power for Tata Steel through its subsidiary TP Vardhaman Surya. The facility has a 379 MW capacity for hybrid renewable energy.
  • Hindustan Aeronautics: According to the state-owned military corporation, the Board of Directors meeting will take place on June 27 to discuss a proposal to divide equity shares. As a result, from June 9 until 48 hours after the proclamation of the board meeting’s outcome, the trading window for dealing in the company’s securities will be closed to all insiders, including designated individuals, connected persons, and their immediate families.
  • Blue Dart Express: With effect from September 1, the company’s board of directors has accepted the appointments of Sudha Pai as chief financial officer (CFO) and V N Iyer as group chief financial officer (Group CFO).
